GRAND ANGELS
NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS"

2012

To quote Pastor David’s sermon from July 5, 2010, “as followers of Jesus, we are called to listen, to help, to be there for others – to be the caring presence of Christ to others”.  One way Trinity does this is through operation of the TCP Food Bank and support of a county wide Angels Outreach team.

NEIGHBORS HELPING NEIGHBORS  No neighbor, especially a child, should go hungry whether it is for food, education, or opportunities to maximize their potential.

We all know Grand County is an awesome place to live, work and play.  Beauty abounds both in our surroundings and in the hearts of people who call Grand County home.  Grand County’s cost of living is higher than other places.  Many who work here are employed in seasonal jobs and the shoulder seasons are especially tough on these workers.  Additionally with the downturn in the economy and the loss of so many jobs in the last few years, things have gotten even tougher on many of our Grand County neighbors.  People who never had problems supporting themselves are finding themselves in stressful positions of not being able to put food on the table, gas in their vehicles and/or pay their rent, utilities, children’s special needs and other expenses.

Grand Angels
exists because of the grand people of Grand County.  One of the great commandments is “Love your neighbor as you love yourself” and that’s why neighbors in Grand County have come together to help feed and meet the needs of neighbors around them.  100% of what we raise goes to help our neighbors in need. We have no overhead and no expenses.  We are Grand County citizens who see or learn through our many partnerships in the County of needs and we work to meet those needs.  Not only do we assist in solving immediate needs by putting food on the table, we are also a bridge to connect those in need with the resource that could be of the most help.  Sometimes we are the connector to the solution and sometimes we provide financial assistance in the form of gas, home utility, rent, medical emergencies, child related issues, etc. We do not duplicate existing county resources – we supplement them.

The food bank is located in the basement of Trinity Church in the Pines in Grand Lake and is open 9-3 Monday through Wednesday or by appointment.  The all volunteer team can be contacted by calling the angel hotline at 970-627-3510 ext. 315.  Speak slowly and repeat your name and contact information.  The angel on call will return your call within 48 hours.

If you have questions about this program or if you know of someone who is struggling financially, emotionally, physically and might benefit from assistance, please call our Angel hotline at 970-627-3510 extension 315.   We are always looking for new volunteers as the needs continue to increase at alarming rates – 200% in the last 2 years.  If you are interested in discussing how you might join our all volunteer team, please leave us a message at the Angel hotline.

Come by and visit the food bank and/or call the hotline if you want to know more about the neighbor helping neighbor program.  All donations are tax deductible.  Items for the food bank can be dropped off at Trinity Church in the Pines or one of the volunteers will be glad to come to your home and pick up your donations.  Checks should be made out to Trinity Church in the Pines - Grand Angels and mailed to PO Box 676, Grand Lake, CO 80447. 100% of what you give goes to feed and help a neighbor in need.  Yes, you read that right – 100%.

Because of the generous contributions of the TCP congregation and the County at large and various grants, we are fully funded, self sufficient and able to assist other agencies, organizations,  ministries and people in the community in various ways – not just groceries.   Thank you for your generous support.

If you wish to apply for emergency rent  or utility assistance, go to the Assistance Forms tab to download for your landlord to fill out and sign.

Feed the hungry!  Help those in trouble!

Then your light will shine out from the darkness,

And the darkness around you shall be as bright as the day!
